Profile
Aged 21, Yarra Prithviraj is a left-arm medium pacer who hails from Andhra Pradesh. With not much experience in domestic cricket, Prithviraj was bagged by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL season 2019. The pacer’s first-class debut came against Tamil Nadu in Ranji season 2017-18 where the youngster impressed one and all by claiming six wickets in the match – three in each innings.

Prithviraj has represented Andhra at the junior levels and his ability to pick wickets in the shortest format makes him a player to watch out for. Not only does he generate a lot of pace but also has a lot of variations to work with. That’s what modern day cricket demands, but just when it seemed like getting an IPL cap this season was implausible due to the talent on the sidelines. But the Prasidh’s struggling form saw Prithviraj getting a look as he made his debut against SRH at Hyderabad. It almost turned out to be a fairytale debut as he nearly had the dangerous Bairstow’s wicket off his fifth ball but Cariappa sullied it by shelling a straightforward chance at deep point. That didn’t deter the youngster though. Prithiviraj came back in his fresh spell and castled David Warner – scalping his maiden IPL wicket. He was ignored by KKR for the next few matches before getting another chance against RR. Although, things didn’t go as per the plan for the Andhra lad as he conceded 28 runs in his 2 overs and KKR were trumped by Jofra Archer’s heroics.
